PATH Therapist Internship - Clinical Counselor or Social Work Trainee in Ohio

PATH Behavioral Healthcare offers frequent internships for Ohio Graduate students who need clinical hours supervised by a licensed professional LPCC-S or LISW-S These significant internship roles are paid hourly, provide students with clinical hours toward licensure, and allow counselor trainees frequent opportunities to diagnose and treat the underserved community who experience mental illness and emotional disorders.

Clinical Supervision

Path will work with you and your university to ensure you receive the Internship experience you desire. 


Paid License Fees

Regardless of your license type, PATH will cover your license renewal fees and provide a yearly stipend for CEU's if you are hired as a licensed professional after your successful internship


Paid Internship

Earn $12 an hour while gaining the experience diagnosing and treating those in need.

Program of Study:

  1. Master or PhD/DMFT in Marital or Couples & Family Therapy
  2. Master or PhD in Mental Health Counseling
  3. Master of Arts/Science in Addiction Counseling
  4. Master of Social Work - Clinical Track
  5. Master of Arts/Science in Psychology

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must be enrolled in Graduate level (Master’s or Doctorate) Mental Health Counseling, MFT, Addiction, Psychology, or Social Work program in the US.
  2. Must maintain student eligibility for the duration of the internship.
  3. Must complete and pass both the Ohio BCI and FBI criminal records checks.
  4. Must have an account and have applied for at least the Counselor Trainee(CT) license in the state of OH. Begin at elincense.ohio.gov. Preference will given to those who, at a minimum, obtain the OH Counselor Trainee (CT) License. Click here for details about Ohio CT License Instructions. 
  5. Apply early, 6-8 weeks prior to the start of your enrolled internship term. Coordination and approvals between the state, school, and PATH will take weeks to process all requirements.


Application Process

Required Documents:

-Resume/Curriculum Vitae (Click here if you need a guide and resources ) that includes the following information:

  1. Contact information, including email
  2. Completed course work (unit/credit hours);
  3. List of completed training to date (DSM-5 must be included)
  4. Work/volunteer experience, including the work schedule and hours, worked per week as well as dates of employment, title, series, and grade, if applicable.
  5. University supervisor’s name, phone number and email address for reference checks


-Letter of Intent. Why would you like to intern at Path Behavioral Healthcare?


-Current transcripts: an unofficial copy is sufficient with the application. Transcripts MUST include the student’s name, name of the school, current GPA/academic standing, past and current coursework, and degree program. If your school’s transcripts or documentation do not provide all the necessary information listed above, you should include additional official academic documentation that meets the requirements.

-Proof of professional liability insurance and general liability insurance (adding PATH Behavioral Healthcare) once accepted in the internship program.


-Internship Contract from the school or university.

  • Proof of enrollment. An official signed letter or email from the instructor of the internship/practicum course or counseling program head/advisor stating that you are enrolled in the internship/practicum course — should include the start and end dates of the term.
  • Transcripts from above
  • Ohio Counselor in Training license application.
  • The counselor trainee is responsible for ensuring they are properly registered and listed on the licensure website https://license.ohio.gov and will be monitored by the supervisor at PATH.
